IELTS and PTE are both widely accepted for study, work and migration. Neither is objectively 'easier' — the right one depends on how you perform under different conditions.
Format & scoring
IELTS offers paper or computer-based options and, in some versions, a face-to-face speaking test with a human examiner. PTE is fully computer-based and AI-scored, which many candidates find more consistent and less nerve-wracking.
Results speed
PTE typically returns results within a couple of days, while IELTS can take a little longer. If you're on a tight application deadline, PTE's turnaround can be a deciding factor.
Who should choose which?
- Choose IELTS if you prefer a human speaking examiner and want the most universally recognised option.
- Choose PTE if you're comfortable with computers, want fast results, and prefer AI scoring.
- Either way, take a diagnostic test first to see where you naturally score higher.
Our coaching prepares you for both — book a diagnostic and we'll recommend the test that gets you to your target score fastest.
